CIBRA
Executive committee 2007:
Meetings:
Monthly, second Wednesday of each month (or
by arrangement if a public holiday). Our monthly agenda is busy
and includes monthly review with representative from the Traffic
Department. Residents of the City Bowl are welcome to make a presentation,
by prior arrangement, to the committee if the matter cannot be attended
to otherwise, or if it requires the attention of the full committee.
Our AGM takes place during the month of May.
CIBRA represents and acts of behalf of all living in the City Bowl,
so all are welcome to attend, whether members or not.
Vacancies:
Two committee members finally really retired after many years of
dedicated involvement; another member had to leave due to poor health
and one resigned due to professional obligations. The committee,
which we would like to comprise 16 members, is currently not up
to strength and several portfolios are neglected due to insufficient
participants.
The following portfolios need interested
individuals:
- Marketing and membership promotion; Website
marketing
- Website updates and liaison (actual web work is contracted to
a web designer)
- Municipal services - electricity, water, cleansing, libraries
- Security & Safety
- Social services
Residents’ problems need not
be like the weather, where everyone talks about it but no one does
anything about it! Our meetings are conducted in a relaxed, informal
mode - we are short on ceremony, long on substance. If you are a
can-do person with a few hours to spare each month, if you believe
that a little involvement works better than a lot of complaining,
we would welcome you with open arms. If you are not sure, come to
one our meetings (it’s a no-obligation offer!) and see if
it’s the sort of things you can get interested in.
Conservation and Town Planning Advisory Panel:
CIBRA is assisted by an advisory panel made
up of volunteer professionals in the fields of architecture, town
planning and architectural history.
Volunteers are always sought to broaden the
inputs, ensure a sufficient number of advisers at any one time and
to spread the work amongst more individuals.
The panel meets once a month and also looks
into matters in between, if necessary. It is not time consuming
- all members are busy professionals with limited time to spare
- and not all members are involved in all issues.
Participation in that panel would not add significantly to your
schedule. If you have the appropriate background, contact us and
we will put you in touch with existing panel members who can assist
you in your decision to join or not.
